The Bucks County Opportunity Council is seeking an energetic and responsible individual to join the Food Team of our non-profit organization for the summer.

The Opportunity Council’s Food Program supports a network of over 70 providers focused on meeting the food and nutrition needs of low-income households. In addition, the Opportunity Council’s Food Program operates a free mobile farmers’ market, Fresh Connect, at four locations within Bucks County. The summer internship will focus on assisting the Fresh Connect Coordinator in all operations of the farmers’ market.

The internship will run from June 2 to August 15, with the intern reporting around 15-20 hours a week. Internship dates can be flexible based upon the candidate’s academic calendar. Internship will require on-site availability and travel to farmers’ market locations. A stipend will be provided upon completion of the internship, and mileage reimbursement is available. Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in pre-operational requirements for Fresh Connect program, including client registration, client profile updates,
  • Assists in administrative duties, including answering client questions, updating and organizing files, etc.
  • Assists in designing and updating outreach materials for Fresh Connect
  • Assist in planning the volunteer event
  • Participates in all aspects of Fresh Connect program
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Interest in the mission of Bucks County Opportunity Council and desire to learn more about food insecurity in Bucks County
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and a strong attention to details
  • Reliable form of transportation with willingness to travel within Bucks County
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and work in outdoor conditions
  • Can use opportunity to fulfil high school/college requirements for real-world job experiences

Full-Time: 35 hr work week

Location: Quakertown office

The purpose of the Housing Planning Coach is to provide competent, compassionate coaching to clients experiencing a housing crisis so that they resolve their housing crisis and prevent homelessness. The Housing Planning Coach is a team-oriented role that works collaboratively with Bucks County Housing Link staff.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a housing-first perspective with a sense of urgency.
  • Answer phones and assist walk-ins with emergencies and utility assistance.
  • Assist clients in creating and working to meet goals to ensure housing stability.
  • Provide training to clients on how to identify appropriate housing opportunities.
  • Engage with and recruit landlords willing to work with individuals/families who are at risk of homelessness.
  • Assist clients in stabilizing their housing crises through mediation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Administer financial assistance and/or provide referrals to appropriate community services.
  • Receive referrals and ensure that clients experiencing a housing crisis receive quality, compassionate services.
  • Empower clients to weigh and consider options, advocate for their own needs, and act on their own behalf.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely case records, including HMIS data entry.
  • Meet regularly with the supervisor and Bucks County Housing Link staff to review client progress as well as to report on client outcomes.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with non-profit partners, social service agencies, funders, and local government offices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer proficiency – intermediate in HMIS, Microsoft Office, and database experience.
  • Exceptional flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Valid PA driver’s license and auto insurance.

Salary: $40,000-$45,000
