Housing Locator- Full Time

The Bucks County non-profit seeks experienced individual to perform housing location services throughout Bucks County. Knowledge of the Bucks County real estate and apartment rental industry a must. The Housing Locator will demonstrate persistence and motivation as they seek to locate permanent, affordable housing for individuals and families enrolled in housing programs.

Essential Functions:
• Develop and maintain landlord relationships, encouraging landlord participation in housing programs.
• Ability to negotiate lease agreements and conduct housing quality inspections.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills required.
• Ability to collaborate with all partners within the Housing Link system.
• Strong crisis resolution, relationship building, communication, organizational and computer skills are necessary.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of real estate/property management experience
• Knowledge of Bucks County rental market
• Valid driver’s license and reliable car
• Schedule that includes some evenings & occasional weekend hours

Mental Health Self-Sufficiency Coach- Full Time

The Bucks County Opportunity Council is seeking an individual to provide case management to Bucks County Health Choices members diagnosed with a serious mental illness or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder and are being discharged from an acute inpatient hospital and report housing and financial instability. The Coach will provide individualized, person-centered, community-based case management to eligible participants who are transitioning from the hospital back into their community. The goal will be to enhance coordination of services, promote reduction in hospital readmission and mitigate the fundamental social determinants of health. The position is full-time. Strong leadership, motivational, focused case management, coaching, crisis resolution, relationship building, communication, organization and computer skills are necessary.

Requirements:
• Background in Mental Health
• Masters Level MSW or MS in the field of behavioral science
• Valid driver’s license and reliable car

Street Outreach Coach- Full Time

The Bucks County non-profit seeks an individual to perform street outreach services throughout central and upper Bucks County. The Street Outreach Worker will identify and assist Bucks County’s most vulnerable homeless and chronically homeless individuals and families to resolve their housing crisis.

Responsibilites:
• Provide street-based outreach, with a housing first perspective, to individuals or families that live or spend a significant amount of time on the street (housing insecure/homeless) throughout central and upper Bucks County
• Establish relationships and encourage participation in mainstream housing services in an effort to achieve housing stability
• Accept referrals from the Bucks County Housing Link and Community Outreach Programs to assist in identification, location, and verification of homeless individuals and families in Bucks County
• Maintain complete and accurate case records, including the county’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience in working with homeless individuals/families
• Valid driver’s license and reliable car

Tax Program Site Coordinator- Volunteer with Stipend

Bucks County non-profit seeks a Site Coordinator for the free volunteer income tax program (VITA) in Warminster. The Bucks County Opportunity Council is the non-profit Community Action Agency for Bucks County and provides an array of services for low-income individuals and families, including free tax preparation. The VITA Site Coordinator will oversee and coordinate all aspects of the tax site, ensuring that all services rendered to the clients are done professionally. The targeted population for VITA services includes individuals with low-income, persons with disabilities, and seniors. This is a volunteer position; a stipend of $3,000 is available based on successful operations on the site.

The VITA site is scheduled to operate on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays from February 1 through April 15th, 2023; additional daytime and other hours may be required.

Essential Functions:
•Employing “best practices” in all operations to ensure quantitative and qualitative results;
• Ensuring the confidentiality of all records at the site;
• Completing tasks necessary to maintain a safe working environment for volunteers and clients;
• Supervising opening and closing of the site, ensuring all necessary materials and supplies are available;
• Ensuring all volunteer tax preparers working at the site have been IRS-trained and certified;
• Scheduling of tax preparation appointments, follow-up, and scheduling of volunteer tax preparers and other volunteers;
• E-Filing returns;
• Maintaining paperwork, including intake forms, and providing for secure storage of documents per IRS regulations;
• Preparing taxes and tax forms;
• Being available to answer and respond to tax questions from clients and tax preparers;
• Providing quality control for all aspects of the operation including filing accuracy and effective customer service;
• All duties and as required by the IRS and BCOC.

Requirements:
• Certified as a preparer by the IRS at the advanced level (Free training is provided)
• Strong computer skills
• Previous tax/accounting background/education preferred
• Schedule that includes Wednesdays & Saturdays to open and close the site for the tax season.
• Good customer service skills
• Ability to manage volunteers and interact with clients
• Well organized, capable of managing operations of a site
• Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs

Weatherization Admin Assistant- Full-time

Bucks County non-profit seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant for the Weatherization home energy program. Position will provide program support, client and contractor outreach for the Weatherization and LiHeap crisis programs. Full-time position with benefits. 

Essential Functions:
• Answer telephone calls, document required data, process applications and file maintenance.
• Data entry, recording required program data into computer systems in a timely manner.
• Work in partnership with BCOC Weatherization staff, Department of Public Welfare, Contractors, community partners and Bucks County residents who are seeking energy assistance.
• Provide client outreach to maintain consistent weatherization applications.

Requirements:
•Bachelor or Associates degree preferred
• Detail oriented, efficient, and accurate record keeping
• General office/clerical experience
• Valid driver’s license and reliable car

Senior Level Home Energy Auditor- Full-time

Bucks County non-profit seeks a Home Energy Auditor to perform services throughout Bucks County. The Home Energy Auditor will assess eligible dwellings for potential weatherization services through inspection of building shell and mechanical systems, and supports the LIHEAP Crisis Heater Repair program. Full-time position with benefits.

Essential Functions:
• Demonstrate knowledge of how to use blower door diagnostic equipment and modeling software to produce an energy report.
• Develop a prioritized scope of work. Prepare clear and accurate work orders for subcontractors to perform.
• Conduct health and safety inspections and provide energy conservation education.

Requirements:
• 3-5 years’ experience, Weatherization certification, QCI (preferred)
• Mechanical/construction building knowledge preferred. HVAC experience strongly recommended.
• Willing to train the right candidate for required certifications. BPI Energy Auditor certification, or PA WAP Auditor certification.
• Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills are necessary.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces.
• Two-year college/ technical school, or proven experience.
• Valid PA driver’s license. Travel throughout county in agency provided vehicle.
• Schedule does include some evenings and occasional weekend hours.

Internship Opportunities

Fresh Connect Community Outreach Internship

The Bucks County Opportunity Council is seeking an energetic and responsible individual to join our non-profit organization for the summer. The Opportunity Council’s food program supports a network of over 70+ providers focused on meeting the food and nutrition needs of low-income households. In addition, the Opportunity Council’s food program operates a free mobile farmers’ market, Fresh Connect, in four locations within Bucks County. This summer internship will focus on assisting the Fresh Connect Coordinator in all operations of the farmers’ market. The internship will run June 1 to August 18 2023 with the intern reporting around 15 -20 hours a week. Internship dates can be flexible based upon the candidate’s academic calendar. Internship will require on-site availability and travel to farmers’ market locations. A stipend will be provided upon completion of internship and mileage is available for gas reimbursement.
